Nautic Alert wireless sensors and zones are pre-configured for quick installation before shipping to customers.  In addition, Nautic Alert’s remote diagnostics from their US-based team help ensure system settings are setup properly for each install.

Nautic Alert is the only marine security system featuring microwave intrusion technology, or FLIR-based autonomous human detection for ultra-reliable outdoor detection.  Unlike most other systems, Nautic Alert does not even offer residential style PIR sensors common to homes due to their unreliable nature in an outdoor marine environment.  Microwave technology enables 3D controls with tolerance of small movement, rejection of distant movement, rejection to dock-side movement, and forms the network of reliable motion used to trigger remote camera events.

Nautic Alert systems are known for eliminating false alerts through the use of smart sensors that measure data, and do not rely on unreliable on/off technology or substandard technology.  All of Nautic Alert’s applications use next-gen technology that enables high-reliability and ease-of-use.

Nevata SMART bilge controllers compliment the existing float switches and manual override hardware factory installed, and greatly enhance reliability and visibility into developing issues down below.  The owner can quickly view a full log of all bilge cycle events, which include timestamped data and statistics that can help pinpoint a developing issue while underway, or while unattended.

Vessel tracking, multi-bank DC monitoring, a high precision anchor alarm, shore power monitoring, and more are all included in this install, for a fraction of the price of the leading marine security system, with hardware, features, and installation savings that are unrivaled.

With this setup, all Nautic Alert system communications occur over Iridium’s global satellite network.  However, the video is setup to use a long-range marine Wifi solution that can work up to seven miles away from an access point, and then feature an international SIM that allows it to auto-switch to 4G and 3G cellular networks when wifi is not available.  The NVR used does not require port-forwarding like most systems, so when a customer connects to a marina’s wifi hot spot, instant camera streaming from a smart phone simply works out-of-the-box.

The Insight, shown here, is a compact solution featuring the industry’s most power-efficient MFD with less than 150mA current draw.  The capacitive-based touch screen features an IPhone-like touch experience with applications that can be added to the bottom of the screen through our one-touch firmware update feature.

Insight features over 15 apps, including vessel tracking, DC levels with easy-to-read visuals of the battery level rather than the red seven-segment voltage displays we’ve all become accustomed to, the most precise and accurate anchor alarm in the industry, and much more.

Wireless indoor motion, smoke, and carbon monoxide sensors compliment the setup.  Insight can be armed in onboard or away mode, and each security zone can be active in either or both modes.  Interior sensors are typically setup on zones only active in away mode, and because all wireless sensors and zones are preconfigured from the factory, this simplifies the entire process.

In addition, invisible radar sensors could be used behind interior surfaces to preserve high-aesthetics and detect intruders invisibly, though panels, walls, and cabinets.

A wireless battery powered microwave detector is installed to cover the deck surfaces, with a max range of 45 feet.  The active distance detection can easily be adjusted with a dial inside of the cover.  The detector features precise field-of-view controls to eliminate detection of people walking on the dock next to the boat, and is resilient against wind drafts and deck surface temperature thermal noise that often create false alerts with PIR technology.

Waterproof harsh-weather rated IP outdoor cameras provide real-color night vision to the salon TV, and remote access via an app.

An Inmarsat Fleet One provides broadband when wifi and cellular access are not available.  Broadband, cellular, and Nautic Alert services are all bundled through Nearshore Networks so the customer receives one bill.  Additionally, each service can be manged in standby, seasonal, or active modes to optimize costs.

Low profile, high performance Iridium and GPS antennas are used with Nautic Alert.  These can be easily pole mounted as shown here, flush mounted, or concealed beneath a deck or locker surface.  Cables to connect the antennas come with the system, as do various antenna mount options.

Kudos to Phil Mitchell with Electronic Marine LLC in Annapolis for this top notch installation.

Power Cat 60 in Clearwater/Bahamas

Summary of Install

    • Vessel tracking, security, bilge management, anchor alarm, multi-bank DC, shore power monitoring, global texting, and emergency SOS + messaging
    • Global Iridium Insight MFD
    • 4 Nevata Bilge Controllers
    • XPulse Plus for multi-bank DC, shore power, wireless security/safety sensors
    • Outdoor wireless battery powered microwave motion sensor
    • Pre-configured zones and wireless sensors

This customer’s main concern focuses on exterior security and an anchor alarm for when he’s staying onboard and sleeping in the Bahamas and around the Caribbean.

Equally important is early detection of bilge events both when the boat is left unattended and in operation.  It was a requirement to migrate away from mechanical float switch technology.  Nautic Alert’s Nevata bilge controller is the most advanced bilge management solution in the industry, and greatly enhances reliability of bilge systems while using traditional float switches as a backup.  With Nevata, there are no moving parts under the water to get stuck or degrade, and all switches are solid-state and self-contained.

During one of this customer’s trips to the Bahamas, the US-based Nautic Alert team noticed one of the engine compartment Nevatas was cycling several times per hour, when it had only been cycling about once a week prior.  The Nautic Alert team notified the customer, and upon inspecting his engine room, discovered a raw water hose was starting to leak.  Nautic Alert features automatic leak detection and notifications, in addition to a number of faults and issues related to the pump, plumbing and electrical.  Dual pump Nevatas can intelligently auto-switch pumps for full redundancy and notifications for when one pump is ineffective or in a fault state.

Nevata is an all-inclusive full bilge management controller that works from above the waterline.  Housed in a fully waterproof UL508 marine industrial controls compliant solution, Nevata controls the existing pumps from above the waterline, and uses the same wiring as a float.  It is recommended to wire Nevata in parallel with the existing float switch, then elevate the float on a block about 2 inches thick, making the float the backup to the ultra-reliable Nevata.  Nevata contains a wireless interface for communications with the Insight MFD.

Nevata with Nautic Alert, is a machine-learning system that learns the pump characteristics and how often each pump needs to cycle.  Because of this, it can detect and notify of leaks in the very early stages of development.  It also tests the attached pumps(s) weekly so there are no surprises during a heavy rain.  In addition to the multitude of faults it can detect, if high-water occurs, the system can notify a 3rd party, such as a harbor master, automatically.

Nautic Alert displays all bilge cycle events in a remote table, viewable from any smart phone, tablet, or PC.  In addition, the owner can “see” how much water is present in each bilge compartment equipped with a Nevata, accurate within 1/10 of an inch.
